Music has always been the centre of Paolo’s universe. As an esteemed pianist, composer and arranger, he has worked with some of the top names in the industry. Paolo originally studied classical music at a very young age but it was his encounter with Marco Bianchi that would change his direction and allow him to discover his passion for jazz and popular music.
During his time at the prestigious Piccolo Conservatorio in Milan, he met Ettore Righello who was at that time the artistic director of RaiUno. This encounter introduced him to funk and soul, two of the genres which were to mark Paolo’s musical direction. In the years which followed, Paolo attended the ‘Clinics’ organised by the University of Berkley in California at the world famous Umbria Jazz Festival. In 1986, Paolo was chosen by Augusto Martelli to write the theme tune to the cartoon ‘Holly and Benji’. He continued his success in the world of television and composed, amongst others, the theme tunes for the series Carra Show with Raffaella Carra, Telemike with Mike Bongiorno, Scalo 76 and Quelli che il calcio. Paolo has also composed numerous advertising jingles and even taken part in dubbing. Paolo successfully ran the Milanese nightspot ‘Red Black’ until 2007, an experience which provided him with invaluable organisational skills.
